That will translate English into Japanese but using English letters instead of 本当にありがとう this. (by the way that is suppose to be "Thank you very much", which I know should be something like "Domo arigato" thank you Styx for that one ;D) The purpose for this is so I can use it for my Jira character which well sometimes slip out a very phrases in Japanese but people will remind him to speak in English.

I can do it (badly). I've always wanted to learn japanese but the university courses are booked 3+yrs in advance in my area I do own a japanese >< english dictionary tho. And those square thingies mean you need to download a translator patch that most sites are happy to provide. I've never done it tho since I have enough probs with viruses and such and I've heard those are a good way to cause messed up stuff to your computer. Besides, kanji is kool to look at but impossible to read. You should see that crap spammed on final fantasy online at 2 am here Also, it's amazing how much you can pick up watching puro videos ;D

Every single browser based program i have seen will typically come back with a kana/kanji based response. If your looking for just singular words or more of a Curryman style you could just use a dictionary or pick up bits and pieces from parts of Japanese culture like puro/anime/option.
If you want to do the whole sentence, that will be a bit harder. You could probably find something for download to get the basics like sentence structure, simple phrases and formalities.
Some basic things he could use could be "Hajimimashite (how are you doing?)" when meeting someone for the first time. Other examples would be like "ee? (huh?/yes?)" in response when someone talks to him to get his attention. Other elements that can be added to the character are the well known using "r" instead of "l" for english words along with short cuts like "San Q (Thank You)" to accent he learned english from japanese.
I can probably think of some more examples if you want. Just let me know.
