Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager and she's in one of the many CSI's now too) and Michael Jai White (Spawn, Black Dynamite, Why Did I Get Married, and The Dark Knight actor) are confirmed in with this taking a darker tone than the earlier films and early reports say that they are hitting closer to home on the story as well.
After the last GREAT MK game being Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, I'll definitely give this a shot to see if this reboot is worth it. Seriously after going bankrupt, Midway and Ed Boon's team really have nothing to lose at this point...

What I love about this promo video is how they logically introduced the characters and made it believable. They didn't stray to far off in left field with it. It is definately darker but you know how I just love evil things ROTFLMAO ;D Just those 8 minutes got me hooked so I can't wait for the entire thing!

the MK movies were terrible but of course being a big fan of the series I'll check this out whether its just as bad or not.

After watching the trailer, I say this is going to have like nothing to do with the actual games other than the actual MK tournament and Scorpion/Sub-Zero's rivalry.
I guess us old folks are the only ones who remember that Mortal Kombat is a tournament for mankind's survival against the incoming armies from OutWorld. Sheng Tsung was a sorcerer serving under Shao Khan and when he failed after MK1, he took matters into his own hands at the frontlines of his armies.
And seriously, NO Liu Kang!!??
Don't get me wrong guys, it looks promising action-wise, but I'm just kinda surprised at what its lacking already.

I'd also like to add that they used Scorpion's real name and the correct storyline on Sub-Zero and his brother. Chances are more folk will appear, and besides.. Scorpion was always cooler than Liu Kang. :3 |

Kung Lao? He was Meh. Kano had better be in it. I think if Kitana/Mileena/Jade are going to be in it, there is gonna be some serious re-writing of histories. It seems that they are moving away from the supernatural aspects of the story and making it more of a murderous street fight tournament. So probably no Goro or Sheeva, possibly no Sindel or Shao Khan without major re-writes. I like the death of Johnny Cage. He really doesn't belong in the MK universe.
If they convinced Jeri Ryan to don Sonya's costume and do her moves, I'm sold! ;D
